Anthracite is a hybrid art and design gallery in Zurich, founded and curated by
Ebba Wallmén. The gallery aims to present bold and thought-provoking exhibitions that connect emerging and established voices, and collaborates with galleries and curators internationally.

Conceived as a space for dialogue and experimentation, Anthracite explores where art and design intersect, where abstraction, materiality and form meet lived experience. The programme highlights practices that question convention and invite reflection on how we perceive space, texture and presence.

The gallery’s stripped industrial setting with raw concrete walls, exposed wooden beams and remnants of old wallpaper reflects its ethos of embracing the unpolished so the work itself becomes the focal point. Founded in 2024, Anthracite continues to evolve as a platform for exchange and discovery, bridging disciplines and perspectives through a contemporary, international lens.

Ebba Wallmén has a background spanning art, culture and corporate strategy, holding several master’s degrees and curatorial experience across disciplines. Her academic work has focused on art theory and the relationship between aesthetics, context and meaning. Based in Zurich, she founded Anthracite as an independent platform for cultural dialogue, shaped by a belief in experimentation, authenticity and the power of art to connect beyond borders.
